New “My UHIP Summary"

New this year, International students are now able to view information on their personal UHIP coverage on MUGSI under “My UHIP Summary”.   The purpose of “My UHIP Summary” is to display information pertaining to your personal UHIP coverage.

“My UHIP Summary” is in three sections.

1.         The Top Section – Member’s personal information

Students will be able to find their contact and program-related information in this section. The contact and personal information displayed is that which is provided to the UHIP insurance provider as a requirement of coverage. It is collected in accordance with FIPPA regulations.

2.         The Middle Section – Dependant information

This section will list all dependants covered under the student’s UHIP coverage. Personal information displayed is that which is provided to the UHIP insurance provider as a requirement of coverage. It is collected in accordance with FIPPA regulations.

3.         The Last Section – Coverage details and costs

Students will be able to find types of coverage, duration and the breakdown of insurance cost in this section. Please note that only the current year’s costs will be displayed.

Permissible Actions

Actions are controlled by a button bar, which is located at the top of the window.
Any warning and messages will appear beneath the button bar.

  • Exit: By clicking this button, students will immediately terminate the application, without saving any changes you have made.
  • Add Dep: By clicking this button, students will add a new dependant. Please ensure to complete all required fields and press “Submit” when everything is done. The application will also recalculate the cost of insurance, and the coverage details display will now also reflect the additional dependent. Note that a maximum of seven dependants may be covered under a student’s coverage. If seven dependants already exist, the “Add Dep” button will remain disabled.

What students can do

Students are only able to add dependants. Students wishing to make changes or remove dependants should contact ISS.

FAQ

Q: Why isn’t my contact information displayed?
A: The insurance provider requires a current Canadian address, phone number, and valid email address, so these fields will be blank if no information is provided by the student. To view and update all contact information, visit the various Quick Links in the “My Profile” section of MUGSI.

Q: Why does it show “none available” under my program and faculty?
A: There might be a technical problem obtaining that information from the database. Please contact ISS.

Q: My dependants require coverage, but they are not listed. What should I do?
A: Click on the “Add Dep” button and you will be able to add your dependant’s information.

Q: I am trying to add a dependant. Do I need to add all of this information?
A: The only detail you may omit is the Canadian Departure Date. All other fields are required in order to successfully add the dependant.

Q: Some of my dependants no longer require coverage. What should I do to remove them?
A: You are only permitted to add dependants under this system. Please contact ISS to remove a dependant.

Q: The information on some of these dependants needs to be corrected. How can I do this?
A: Please contact ISS to change dependant details.

Q: My UHIP coverage is missing. It says there is no coverage information to be displayed. What should I do?
A: Please contact ISS to inquire about missing coverage.

Q: What does it mean by single, double, and family coverage?
A: Single coverage is coverage for only one person (the student). Double coverage is coverage for the student plus one dependant (spouse or child). Family coverage is coverage for the student plus more than one dependant (any combination of spouse and children).
